Caleb Mozzocco in Columbus ALIVEA Muse erotic show is a mixed-media feast of styles and adult subject matterCheong-Ah Hwang contributes two of the more fun pieces the show has to offer-a framed paper penis sculpture, featuring a fruit-like flaccid penis with stylized pubic hair like radiating flower petals, and Obelisk, which, from across the gallery, looks like a painting of the back of a woman in stockings' legs, but up close turns out to be an assemblage of black and white pictures montaged all over the legs. The figures are culled from Indian, Asian and Western art and are all of copulating couples, making for a pan-cultural, timeless orgy of art styles Which probably isn't a bad way to describe the show as a whole. None of the pieces have anything to hide and all are eager to engage the viewer, ready to give something in return for some attention. It's an orgy for the eyes. |
